Queens Road transport mural completed
Scaffolding around the lift on 14 June. Painting in progress.
A mural has been painted on the lift at Queens Road tram stop by Andy from The Mural Masters!
Scaffolding around the lift on 22 June. Painting in progress. Part of it has been taken down already near the top.
Commissioned by the Museum of Transport, the mural features an old Manchester Corporation Tramways tram on the stairway-facing side, and a few types of buses, a T68 and an M5000 tram on the track-facing side.
The full piece revealed on 23 June.
Queens Road tram stop already has a few stickers around signage with "Home of Museum of Transport" on them. Now the Museum of Transport has a full mural pointing passengers in the right direction. The museum is about a 10-min walk away from Queens Road Metrolink.
Along with this, a few more things have been happening over at the museum. On 6 June 2026, TfGM and Stagecoach held an open day at the Queens Road bus depot to celebrate "Manchester’s original bus depot" passing 125 years. Also, on 10 June 2026, a new Bee Network exhibit was opened at the Museum of Transport.
The Queens Road lift has unfortunately been closed for the entirety of the paint project for seemingly unrelated reasons, as the lift was still closed on 23 June when the scaffolding was removed.
